Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Moving and Manual Handling Practitioner to play a key role in supporting safe, effective and inclusive practice across the school. This post offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pupils’ access to learning, physical development and wellbeing, while contributing to a positive and collaborative working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
To support Class teachers and class teams in their statutory obligations in relation to the Manual Handling Operations Regulations
• To facilitate relevant training/refreshers provisions through direct delivery, supervision of in-house trainers and liaison with relevant agencies to meet the learning needs through removing barriers to learning and participation (e.g. increased accessibility when student uses a standing frame)
• To keep a good record of staff training needs, delivered sessions and staff capabilities
• To deliver Manual Handling Induction to staff on their first day
• To plan and deliver Manual Handling training to all new staff within two weeks of their post
• To assess and order agreed students’ equipment, such as slings, harnesses
• To distribute slings to class teams
Key Requirements:
• GCSE grade A – C or equivalent in Literacy and Numeracy
• Experience of working and communicating successfully with children who are non-verbal and have complex communication needs
• High digital competency and IT skills
• Experience of preparing resources to support children’s learning using recognised symbol producing software such as Board maker
• Commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children
