Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

New to teaching or not ready for a leadership role?

If you are newly qualified or early in your career and interested in teaching Economics without the leadership responsibilities, we still encourage you to apply. Please make this clear in your application – we are open to flexible arrangements and welcome the opportunity to consider a job share.

The Governors of Cardinal Newman Catholic School wish to appoint an ambitious, enthusiastic, and highly qualified Subject Leader of Economics with a real passion for teaching and learning. We are seeking an innovative and committed classroom practitioner who can inspire students and deliver A-level Economics in an Ofsted-rated Outstanding college.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled and enthusiastic Head or Teacher of Economics who is eager to lead and further develop a highly successful department. The successful candidate will be an experienced and well-qualified teacher who places students’ aspirations and wellbeing at the heart of their vision, values kindness and generosity, and is committed to making a difference to every individual, as an individual.

We are looking for someone who can build transformational relationships, foster a love of Economics, and ensure that all students are supported to flourish academically and personally. The role would suit a reflective practitioner with high expectations, strong subject knowledge, and a genuine commitment to professional growth.

Cardinal Newman Catholic School is a community where every individual is valued and encouraged to excel. The school is located on the south coast in the vibrant city of Brighton & Hove. In return, the school offers a strong and supportive community of colleagues, students, and parents, alongside a culture of regular support for personal and professional development.
