About Apex Specialist Education

Apex Specialist Education is a specialist SEMH secondary school and alternative provision. Our existing provision is rated Good with Outstanding features, and we are proud to be expanding with new sites in Stockport and Altrincham, supported by a proven and experienced senior leadership team.

Our practice is rooted in a trauma-informed, relationship-centred approach, with highly personalised pastoral and academic pathways. We deliver an ambitious curriculum that enables pupils to re-engage with learning, access the National Curriculum, and achieve a meaningful suite of qualifications. All learning is carefully adapted and paced to meet individual need.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable, and compassionate Secondary Teacher to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives in a specialist environment and is committed to improving outcomes for young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The successful candidate will work across both our Altrincham and Stockport sites, contributing to a calm, purposeful, and nurturing learning environment.

Importantly, while the role is based across two sites, teachers will be timetabled to work at one site per day and will not be expected to travel between sites during the same working day.

Key Responsibilities

As a Teacher at Apex Specialist Education, you will play a pivotal role in both the academic and personal development of our pupils. Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality, engaging, and appropriately differentiated lessons

  • Planning and implementing personalised learning programmes aligned with individual SEMH profiles

  • Creating and maintaining a calm, safe, structured, and positive learning environment

  • Promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience, and the education of the whole child

  • Building strong, consistent, and trusting relationships with pupils through trauma-informed practice

  • Following Apex Specialist Education policies, systems, and safeguarding procedures consistently

  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver cohesive pastoral and academic support

  • Monitoring progress, providing feedback, and contributing to reviews and reporting

  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times

What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified and reflective secondary teacher with a passion for inclusive education

  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH and/or additional needs (desirable but not essential)

  • A calm, resilient, and adaptable teaching approach

  • Strong classroom practice rooted in relationships and high expectations

  • A team player who values collaboration and shared responsibility
