Behaviour Support & Pastoral Role – Bradford – Full-Time
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
We are seeking a highly capable, confident, and emotionally intelligent Behaviour Support Specialist to work within a dynamic and supportive secondary school in Bradford. This is not supervision — but intervention. If you are an experienced behaviour support worker with effective crisis de-escalation and student mentoring, this is your chance to play a pivotal role in a child's ability to re-engage with learning and succeed.
Responsibilities
• Supervise and support pupils requiring additional behaviour support due to behaviour-related incidents
• De-escalate challenging situations using trauma-informed and restorative approaches
• Reinforce school behaviour policies with empathy and consistency
• Mentor students on decision-making, accountability and reintegration strategies
• Keep accurate records of attendance, conduct, and incidents
• Liaise with senior leaders, behaviour managers, SEND teams, and parents/carers to support individual behaviour plans
Requirements
• Proven experience in a behaviour, pastoral or mentoring role within a school or youth setting
• Strong presence with the ability to lead calmly under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional regulation
• A thorough understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing
• Resilience, consistency and a solutions-focused mindset
Desirable (But Not Essential)
• Team Teach / MAPA / Positive Handling or similar de-escalation training
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH, trauma, ADHD or ASD
• Understanding of behaviour policies, exclusions and reintegration practices
• Experience delivering or supporting behaviour interventions or restorative sessions
• Background in youth work, PRU (Pupil Referral Unit), or Alternative Provision is a bonus
