Learning Coach (SEMH) – Exeter (Outreach + School-Based Support)
£95–£105 per day | Immediate Start | Full Time
Are you an experienced Learning Coach with a passion for supporting young people who need consistency, patience, and strong relationships to thrive?
We’re recruiting for a Learning Coach to join a specialist education setting in Exeter, supporting pupils with SEMH needs across both school-based provision and outreach placements within the local community.
This is a rewarding, hands-on role for someone who can build trust quickly, maintain boundaries, and support students to re-engage with education in a safe and structured way.
The Role Includes:✅ Supporting students with SEMH, behaviour needs, and emotional regulation
✅ Working 1:1 and in small groups to promote engagement and progress
✅ Supporting students both on-site and through outreach work (community-based)
✅ Helping students develop life skills, routines, confidence and resilience
✅ Assisting with de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour support plans
✅ Transporting students as part of outreach responsibilities (own vehicle required)
This provision supports children and young people who may have struggled in mainstream education due to social, emotional, or mental health needs. Students often benefit from a smaller, more nurturing environment with staff who can provide consistent support, structure, and clear expectations.
Many learners may have faced barriers such as anxiety, trauma, behavioural challenges, or disrupted education—so staff who are calm, confident, and proactive are essential.
What We’re Looking For:â Proven experience supporting pupils with SEMH / challenging behaviour
â A confident, resilient and relationship-driven approach
â Full access to your own vehicle (driving is required for outreach)
â DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
â Ability to remain calm under pressure and follow behaviour strategies
£95–£105 per day
