Leigh Academy Mascalls is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Visual Art Technician to maintain our high standards and provide comprehensive support to our staff and students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

This is a pivotal role within our creative faculty, requiring technical expertise, organisational precision, and a proactive approach to studio management.

Key Responsibilities

As the lead technical resource for the department, you will ensure the seamless delivery of a broad and ambitious curriculum encompassing Fine Art, Photography, Textiles, and Three-Dimensional Design.

Studio & Resource Management: You will maintain our studios, equipment, and specialist spaces including kilns, printing presses, and darkrooms to a professional standard.
Technical Assistance: Beyond preparation, you will provide direct technical guidance to students during practical sessions, supporting their mastery of specialist media and artistic techniques.
Curatorial Support: You will play a leading role in the presentation of student work, responsible for the mounting, framing, and installation of displays and formal exhibitions that showcase the department’s output.
Logistics & Procurement: You will oversee departmental stock, managing the procurement of supplies and maintaining an accurate inventory to ensure the department remains fully equipped.
Health, Safety & Compliance

Safety is paramount in our practical environments. You will be responsible for:

Ensuring all studio activities comply with current Health and Safety legislation.
Maintaining rigorous COSHH documentation for all materials, including solvents, glazes, and dyes.
Conducting regular safety audits of machinery and hand tools to ensure a secure learning environment.
