Job Purpose:
To support the Logistics Manager in the effective day-to-day operation of all warehouses at the Milton Keynes site. The Warehouse
Team Leader will supervise a team of warehouse operatives, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant storage, picking, and
movement of goods in line with production and customer requirements.
The role focuses on delivering operational KPIs, maintaining stock accuracy and traceability, and promoting food safety, quality,
and SHE standards. It also involves developing the warehouse team through effective leadership, training, and performance
management.
Key Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Warehouse & Operational Performance
* Support the Logistics Manager in running an efficient warehouse operation capable of meeting customer demand and business
targets.
* Supervise daily warehouse activities including goods receipt, storage, picking, dispatch, and line-feeding to production.
* Ensure materials are delivered to production lines in line with agreed production schedules.
* Monitor workload and allocate labour and resources effectively within own area of responsibility.
* Ensure stock movements are accurately recorded, and warehouse systems are kept up to date.
* Maintain high levels of stock accuracy, FIFO compliance, and correct stock rotation.
* Participate in and support regular stock takes and reconciliation activities.
* Identify operational issues and resolve where possible; escalate to the Logistics Manager where required.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance service
levels.
* Produce reports, data, and KPI updates as requested by the Logistics Manager.
Systems, Equipment & Facilities
* Ensure all warehouse equipment, vehicles, and MHE are used safely, maintained correctly, and are fit for purpose.
* Ensure hazardous materials are stored and handled in accordance with legal and company requirements.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the warehouse at all times.
Health, Safety & Environment Responsibilities
* Actively promote a strong SHE culture within the warehouse team.
* Ensure all team members work in accordance with company Health & Safety rules, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
* Ensure new starters receive appropriate Health & Safety induction and on-the-job training.
* Monitor safe working practices and challenge unsafe behaviours immediately.
* Ensure accidents, incidents, and near misses are reported promptly and escalated to the Logistics Manager.
* Support safety inspections, audits, and corrective actions within own area.
Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities
* Ensure team members comply with GMP, factory dress code, and food safety standards at all times.
* Ensure prohibited items are not taken into warehouse or production areas.
* Maintain full traceability of materials and finished goods through accurate paperwork and system usage.
* Understand HACCP principles relevant to the warehouse and ensure all controls and documentation are followed.
Leading People
* Lead, train, coach, and mentor Warehouse Operatives, ensuring training records and competency matrices are kept up to date.
* Motivate and engage the team through clear communication, regular briefings, and shift handovers; lead team huddles in the
absence of the Logistics Manager.
* Support holiday and absence management, balancing operational needs with employee requests in line with company procedures.
* Assist with investigations, disciplinary, and grievance processes at first stage, ensuring fairness and consistency.
* Promote ethical trading, openness, and continuous improvement, addressing non[1]conformances promptly.
* Support employee wellbeing through effective absence monitoring, return-to-work discussions, and HR processes.
* Recognise strong performance and support performance improvement where required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Experience:
* Previous experience in logistics, supply chain warehouse & transport
* Ideally from a FMCG background
