We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Plumber at the 48 Civil Engineer Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Lakenheath, United Kingdom.
What will be your primary role?
This position performs the full scope of journey-level plumbing duties, including installation, repair, and modification of water pipes, systems and related equipment. Perform first and second fix plumbing, including pipework, fitting fixtures and connecting to water systems. The applicant will independently plan and execute work, interpreting building plans and maps, specifications, and plumbing codes.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting and testing plumbing systems, including backflow prevention devices, and the safe operation and maintenance of a variety of plumbing tools and equipment.
Adherence to safety regulations and maintaining a clean work environment are paramount.
As the Plumber you will be required to hold an NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing. Experience in general plumbing and re-piping is required for this position. Being able to identify an issue, and work in a team to a high professional standard is a must. Training will be given when needed and performing other duties within the water and fuel shop when required.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. Knowledge of and experience performing equipment assembly, installation, operation, and repair, to include routing, placement, slant, slope, and fall of systems; and of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair various systems and equipment.
2. Knowledge of and experience applying and enforcing safety regulations, procedures, and practices.
3. Skill in installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment without more than normal supervision.
4. Skill in using and maintaining tools and equipment such as rules, levels, plumb bobs, dividers, various gauges and meters.
5. Skill in troubleshooting difficult or hard-to-detect leaks and operating problems.
6. Ability to use shop mathematics, take measurements, and lay out angles, arcs, and circles.
What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Overtime may be required.
5. You may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
6. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
7. Your work hours will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies
8. You will require a pre-employment physical and Immunizations for this position which will be conducted at RAF Lakenheath.
9. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. As appropriate CAT B, valid driver’s license may be required for the position
10. As required, may train and/or guide other personnel in performance of plumbing duties.
11. Shift work may be required.
