Summary
Works Manager, Birmingham / Wolverhampton, up to £55k
This manufacturing client, providing high quality machined and finished components for a large variety of customers. They are looking for a Works Manager to join their factory operations as part of a business restructure. This role will be reporting to a Director. The role will involve being responsible for ensuring our daily operations are completed safely and on time. The candidate will oversee around 50 operators in the factory. The focus will be on efficiency and waste reduction. The role is not intended to involve production planning to begin with but could be something looked at in the future with the right candidate.
Duties/responsibilities: -
Ensuring work meets expected quality standards and timelines.
Leading a team of 50 operators.
Implementing and enforcing housekeeping, health and safety, and environmental practices.
Balancing a flexible workforce to ensure adequate cover is maintained at all times.
Recruit and train new staff or arrange training.
Dealing with performance issues.
Managing timekeeping and conduct.
Reporting to directors about performance, progress, and issues.
Supporting our production coordinators to ensure works flow through the factory as planned.
Work with our senior technical team comprising quality engineer, CNC manager and finishing manager to ensure the efficient operation of the factory.
Ideal candidate: -
Experience as a works manager at a similar sized company, or larger.
Self-motivated and energetic.
Strong leadership experience and skills (confidence).
Organised.
Technology-oriented and keen to implement positive change in the future (especially considering the pending factory expansion).
Mon to Thu 07.45am -16.45pm, Fri 07.45am – 12.45pm.
25 days + bank hols.
Enhanced pension scheme.
