Summary

Job Outline –

Post PT Personal Assistant/Support Worker
to a gentleman in South Ayrshire

6 hours per week

Tuesday evening and 1 other (flexible)
Salary
Living wage rate - £12.60 per hour
Job Purpose To support a young gentlemen to access and participate in a range of hobbies and interests. Accompanying and assisting as required.

Employer You will be employed by the young man, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation / payroll service.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for supporting the gentleman to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed. Guiding and accessing facilities and equipment, communication and maintaining relationships with peers.
You will be required to drive and support the employer in travelling to various locations.
You must have business use on your car Insurance, a clean drivers licence and road worthy car.
Mileage will be reimbursed
Training --- Any training can be provided.

Demonstrable experience of supporting people to fulfil their potential and have active lives.
Relevant qualification(s).
Knowledge & Skills An understanding of how to support and facilitate in a way that empowers the person.
Good interpersonal skills and values reflecting social inclusion.
Excellent and effective communication skills.
Excellent listening skills.
Good organisational skills.
Understands the crucial role that family carers play and the value of their contribution. Working knowledge of good person-centred practice.

Experience
Can draw on lived experience of positively supporting someone as a peer or similar.
Can engage effectively and work in partnership with others. Have supported people to achieve positive outcomes in their life.
Personal Qualities The gentleman has a wide range of interests which are in a table at the end of this person spec. He is looking to recruit someone with some similar interests.
He is looking for someone with a good sense of humour, down to earth, likes a good blether and a bit of banter but is also a good listener Wide experience of community activities
Other You must have a full clean UK driving licence
You must have a good sense of humour.

The Persons interests are:
Martial Arts

There is 5.6 weeks A/L attached to the post. Of which you may be asked to use 2 weeks at the same time as the employer. If the person you support receives traditional respite, then you’re a/L may have to be taken at this time. Please discuss at interview

There is also a 6 month probationary period with a 1 weeks notice within this time, if the post does not work out.

Successful applicants will have to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme prior to appointment and supply 2 up to date reference contacts, one of which should be a current or previous employer
