Summary

The Digital, Data and Technology Directorate (DDaT) reports to the Commission’s Chief Operating Officer and is accountable for delivering digital, data and technology services and outcomes that ensure that the organisation functions and performs effectively and efficiently.

You will be required to translate the Commission’s strategy and strategic objectives into deliverable plans ensuring that employees within DDaT can clearly see the link between their work and delivery of corporate priorities. You will bring a wealth of experience from working in senior roles across multiple industry sectors and/or government departments to help drive this strategy.

The main things you will be doing are:

  • Contributes to the technology vision and direction for the Commission. Responsible for driving the design and architecture of solutions and the successful delivery of complex multi-million pound programmes of work. This role is involved with all projects, looking at dependencies across complex, large scale projects as well as small projects, to ensure success of all in line with the organisation’s objectives.
  • Leads the Agile Delivery, Digital Practice and Data & Architecture functions to ensure the delivery of key digital initiatives in a supportive, collaborative and innovative way. This includes budgetary responsibility of approximately £1.5m per year.
  • Set the direction of the Delivery function which is accountable for the delivery of the digital products in the Commission’s IT Roadmap, ensuring their quality and compliance with the Government Digital Standard (GDS), including accessibility and Secure by Design.
  • Oversees the Digital Practice function which is accountable for the capability of the Commission’s digital teams and focuses on the development of skills, processes and toolsets to support the delivery of the digital products in the Commission’s IT Roadmap (software engineering, DevOps, UI/UX, test engineering, technical design and Continuous Improvement).
