Summary

This is an opportunity to join the Environment Agency and their Permitting Service.
The role is a great way to develop into other roles and career paths within the Agency.

Our Permitting Support Team needs enthusiastic individuals to manage incoming license and permit applications, providing support to technical centres throughout the application process.

You’ll contribute to the Environment Agency’s vision of creating a better place for people and wildlife by helping to regulate low risk activities.



In the role you will:

• Act as an initial point of contact for customers who need information and advice
• Review applications to assess their completeness and obtain further information from the customer if required
• Manage your own workload of ongoing cases and queries
• Update databases and records
• Accurately complete applications
• Work alongside team members in delivering team and individual targets

The team

The Permitting Service determines environmental permits needed for activities that could pollute the air, water or land, increase flood risk, or adversely affect land drainage.

You will be working within one of our support teams based in Sheffield. These teams have a strong customer focus and are essential in providing a range of administrative services that support the permit and licence application process.

Experience/skills required

You will require good written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to follow written processes and use different digital tools.

Relevant work experience would be an advantage, however being able to demonstrate the following list of skills will be important:

Able to work using basic computer applications such as Microsoft excel, word and email.
Ability to work independently on your own, managing your own workload
Meet team and personal performance targets
Communicate clearly with customers in order to progress work
Identify and escalate any issues through your manager or other identified method
Ensure data and information is handled correctly and accurately
Share learning with team members.
