Summary
Summary:
We are seeking a detail-orientated, hardworking and proactive individual to join our resource and logistics team. Reporting to the Resource Manager, you will support the coordination of yard activities, playing a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts to load, unload, move, and organise materials within the yard, warehouse, or designated areas. The role also includes maintaining the cleanliness, organisation, and operational efficiency of the yard and assisting with inventory management. This position requires a commitment to safety protocols and effective communication with team members and management.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management
• Use hand-held scanners to efficiently manage inventory, including checking in deliveries, updating stock levels, and conducting regular stock takes.
• Demonstrate a willingness to develop computing skills, particularly in Sage software, to support and enhance inventory management processes.
• Verify products on incoming deliveries - Agreement with ordered quantities and specifications.
• Work closely with warehouse staff and the resource team to ensure that materials are correctly documented and stored.
• Ensure the rotation of stock in both the warehouses and yards.
• Keep track of inventory levels and notify the resource team of low stock or damaged goods.
Forklift Operation
• Safely operate forklifts (and other equipment as needed) to load and unload, delivery vehicles, trucks, trailers, and containers.
• Transport materials to designated storage locations in the yard or warehouse.
• Stack and organise materials such as pallets, metal, and other goods securely.
• Inspect forklifts daily and report any maintenance or repair needs.
• Assist in preparing and loading delivery vehicles.
Yard Management
• Maintain a clean and organised yard and warehouse environment, ensuring all materials are stored in a safe and orderly manner.
• Oversee the proper disposal of waste materials and recycling within the yard.
• Ensure walkways, access roads, and storage areas remain clear for movement.
Key Competencies:
• Hold a full UK driving license - Essential
• 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts or working in a warehouse/yard environment.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials and perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions.
• Proficiency in computer systems, including the use of handheld scanners, inventory management, and reporting tools.
• Strong commitment to maintaining safety standards in the workplace.
• Ability to organise workload with consideration to delivery times/days whilst maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues across departments to ensure smooth operations.
Working Hours
Monday - Friday - 7:00am - 3:30pm
