Hours: 19 hours per weekSet days and times to fit around the client’s day centre activities:· Monday: 9:30am – 3:00pm· Tuesday: 8:30am – 4:30pm· Thursday: 9:30am – 3:00pmRate of Pay: £20.00 per hourLocation: CharingDescription:We are seeking a reliable and caring Personal Assistant to support an adult male with complex needs and learning disabilities. The role involves providing support at home and assisting him to access activities in the community.The client can walk short distances but uses a wheelchair for longer outings. He is partially sighted and can become disorientated in open spaces, requiring support with balance and mobility both at home and in the community.He will require support with eating to ensure food is taken in small mouthfuls to reduce the risk of choking. He has well-controlled epilepsy and does not experience seizures. He also has diabetes and is insulin-dependent, so regular blood sugar monitoring is required (training will be provided if needed).Support with some aspects of personal care is required, along with assistance to ensure he is kept clean and presentable.This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and references.
Main Duties· Support with personal care (including toileting)· Assistance with eating meals, including cutting up food· Support with mobility, including wheelchair use when required· Assistance with balance and navigation due to partial sight· Support to access community and day care activities· Transporting the client to and from activities using your own vehicle (essential due to rural location; some mileage paid)

Person SpecificationEssential
- Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Good communication skills
- Patient, kind, and outgoing nature
- Good attention to detail
- Confidence supporting someone with personal care
- Previous experience supporting someone with disabilities or care needs
- Knowledge of autism, learning disabilities, epilepsy, diabetes
- First Aid training / Any medical background such as nursing
- Confidence with manual handling and wheelchair support
