What skills and experience we're looking for
Following the promotion of our long-standing Inclusion Leader, Monkspath Junior & Infant School is looking for an exceptional leader to join our dedicated team. This is a pivotal role within our school, combining responsibilities as SENDCO, Designated Teacher for Looked After Children, and oversight of high-quality pastoral support. You will lead our skilled SEND team and work in partnership with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure every child feels valued, supported, and able to thrive.
The Role
• Strategic Leadership: Drive the development and delivery of SEND and inclusion provision across the school.
• SENDCO Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice, oversee EHCP processes, and lead provision mapping and interventions.
• Pastoral Support: Oversee the pastoral team, ensuring effective support for pupils’ wellbeing and social-emotional development.
• Designated Teacher for LAC: Champion the progress and wellbeing of Looked After Children.
• Staff Development: Provide coaching, training, and guidance to staff on inclusive practice and high-quality teaching for all learners.
• Collaboration: Work closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for pupils.
The role will likely include a very small teaching commitment.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
• Places children and their welfare at the heart of everything they do.
• Is a qualified teacher with the National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to undertake it).
• Has a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive strategies.
• Can inspire and lead others, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Is committed to continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.
