Ready to impact a better future?
As a Field Support Engineer, you will contribute to the effective operation and serviceability of radar systems that play a critical role in national security. Your work will support essential capability, ensuring the availability of radar spares and assisting colleagues across remote radar sites in maintaining operational performance.
This role supports the delivery of high‑quality engineering services that enable safe, reliable and efficient radar operations. Your contribution will help ensure continuity of service, enhance system resilience and positively impact the communities that depend on these critical technologies.
Flexible working hours are available, with the potential for hybrid working following successful onboarding. The role is primarily based at Waterlooville, with only occasional visits to radar sites, for the initial familiarisation period and urgent support. We welcome applications from Hampshire and the wider area.
What you’ll do as a Field Support Engineer
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Inspect, test and fault‑find failed electronic units down to component level
- Undertake repairs of radar Line Repairable Units (LRUs) and certify them as safe and compliant
- Reverse‑engineer complex electronic assemblies and source replacement components as required
- Provide engineering support to remote radar sites, including installation and modification activities
- Maintain workshop tools, test equipment and support the movement and management of spares
Does this sound like you?
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have…
- A recognised electronics and electrical qualification (with RF qualification desirable)
- A minimum of three years’ experience in electronics (RF experience desirable)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
- Demonstrable experience in component‑level repair, maintenance and fault‑finding
- The ability to achieve and maintain SC (Security Check) clearance
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
