Are you looking for a full-time supply role, five days a week, in a supportive school environment?

I’m Dan, and I’ve been working closely with primary schools for the past two years, supporting them with their recruitment needs. I’m currently working with a school in Colchester who are looking to appoint a supply Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, starting as soon as possible and running until 27/03/2026, with the potential for extension depending on the school’s needs.

The Learning Support Assistant role involves working closely with pupils in the classroom to support their learning and emotional wellbeing. This may include one-to-one support, small group work or in-class support under the direction of the class teacher. You’ll support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions, follow routines and remain engaged in learning throughout the school day. Working hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school setting
SEMH or SEND experience is desirable, but not essential
A calm, patient and supportive approach
Ability to follow teacher direction and school policies
Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs and behavioural challenges
Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
