Summary

Job Title: Pastoral Support Officer
Actual Annual Salary: £27,362 - £29,850. Based on 37 hours per week, term time only. Full Time Equivalent Salary: £31,954 - £34,860 (CLF Grade D). Based on 37 hours per week, all year round.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday / Term time only + 5 inset days
Provisional Start Date: As soon as possible. We are seeking a committed and compassionate Pastoral Support Officer to join our academy team and play a vital role in supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development.This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is highly skilled at building trusting relationships and is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild positive, professional relationships with students, parents/carers, academy colleagues and external agencies.Provide 1:1 and group-based support for designated students, using appropriate interventions to promote social and emotional wellbeing.Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour in line with academy policies and procedures.Monitor students’ health, welfare and individual learning needs, sharing relevant information with colleagues as required.Work closely with pastoral and educational support teams to monitor attendance and punctuality, implementing interventions where necessary.Act as a first point of contact for parents/carers, maintaining regular communication regarding student progress, needs and targets.Support students experiencing disruption to learning through mentoring and targeted intervention.Proactively address incidents of bullying and support investigations to ensure fair and appropriate outcomes.Manage child protection disclosures and pastoral concerns sensitively and in line with safeguarding policies.Communicate effectively via phone, email and text, adapting communication style to suit different audiences and situations.About you:
You will demonstrate:
A good understanding of safeguarding within an educational setting or transferable knowledge of safeguarding.
Experience of developing and maintaining good relationships with students and having appropriate contact with families and carers of children.
A keen interest in working with children and young people and a commitment to improving the life chances of students.
Commitment to continuous improvement through professional development, self-evaluation, and awareness.
