The Governors at St Peter’s Church of England Primary School are seeking to appoint a part-time clerk to the Governors to provide high-quality administrative and procedural support to the governing body.
The clerk to the governors plays a vital role in the effective operation of the governing body. Key responsibilities include:
• Administrative and Organisational Support: Providing comprehensive administrative support including the preparation and distribution of agendas and papers, accurate minute-taking, and the maintenance of governance records and documentation.
• Governance Guidance: Offering guidance on governance, constitutional and procedural matters to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Procedural Advice: Advising the governing body on meeting procedures to support effective decision-making and efficient meetings.
The Clerk is accountable to the governing body and will work closely with the Chair and Vice-Chair of Governors and the Headteacher. The governing body currently operates two committees: the Resources Committee and the Curriculum and Standards Committee. Meetings of the Full Governing Body and its committees take place approximately 13 times per year, subject to change as required.
Full Governing Body meetings are held on Tuesday evenings between 5:00pm and 7:00pm. Committee meetings generally commence at 4:00pm. An annual schedule of meetings is normally circulated in May.
