Summary
Main duties and responsibilities Clinical: i. To independently assess and justify examinations under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations IR (ME) R 2017. ii. To perform imaging examinations at a consistently high technical and professional standard of work, and to evaluate the clinical quality of images produced having first assessed the clinical requirements and sought any guidance required, for example, when requests fall outside departmental protocol and / or personal experience. iii. Assess, prioritise and organise the services ensuring that there is an effective and efficient appointment system and walk in service with an accurate and well maintained information system to support it. iv. Maintain accurate patient records to reflect the service provided and meet professional standards. v. Following attendance of a Red Dot Course and in line with departmental protocol, identify areas of abnormality/ trauma in Minor Injuries referrals. Inform relevant clinicians/ other clinical staff of significant radiographic findings to help facilitate diagnosis, in accordance with experience and training. Clinical Governance: i. Ensure all infection control standards are adhered to & high levels of cleanliness are maintained. Ensure that equipment faults/ safety hazards are reported promptly and appropriate action taken ii. Participate in departmental audit programme, Quality assurance programme and related areas of clinical governance. iii. Participate in Clinical trials and new equipment evaluation, as requested. iv.
