About the Role
A quality-focused housing developer seeks an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead a new traditional housing project based in Cheltenham. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality new build homes, maintaining standards, and managing all site activities from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, organise and oversee all site operations to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers to maintain high standards of workmanship and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Monitor site progress and prepare regular reports on performance, risks, and issues for senior management.
• Ensure strict adherence to site safety protocols and legal requirements, promoting a safe working environment at all times.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers and other stakeholders to resolve any site-related issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily logs, inspections, and compliance documentation.
• Lead and motivate site teams to achieve project milestones and maintain high standards of workmanship.
• Manage resource allocation and material deliveries to optimise site efficiency and minimise delays.
• Implement quality control procedures to ensure finished homes meet company and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications and Certifications
• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
• CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
• Valid First Aid certificate.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management or equivalent qualification.
Knowledge and Skills
• Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage site teams and liaise with stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational and planning abilities to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Proficient in monitoring budgets and controlling site costs.
• Highly attentive to detail with a commitment to quality and safety standards.
Working Conditions
• This position requires regular attendance on construction sites in varying weather conditions.
• Full-time hours are expected, with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.
• The role involves physical activity, including site inspections and walking across uneven terrain.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory on site at all times.
