Summary
Job OverviewThe role will be responsible for operating the key recycling solutions across the site as part of the Mitie team working in the on-site material recovery facility. Engaging with and working collaboratively with colleagues from across various Kew Gardens departments and delivering on Kew Gardens environmental objectives whilst proactively managing all waste activities on site.
Main Duties
-Operational responsibilities
-To supervise the waste movements in and around the current waste service area, including weekly area inspections and reporting of any QSHE issues accordingly whilst proactively improving the yard area for all parties
-To remove waste materials from holding bins and sort into streams within the MRF prior to transfer into the appropriate segregated containers
-To undertake service routes around Kew Gardens to empty visitor facing bins and return contents to MRF area for sorting
-To bale clean recyclables and move bales to storage area on site awaiting collection
-Ensure the cabin is kept clean, well maintained, and is in safe working order, i.e., PAT Tested, etc, reporting any issues to the Waste Services Supervisor
-Have full knowledge and understanding of the cleaning process, including the agreed work to be carried out and time allocated to this
-Maintain the designated waste yard area to an agreed level of cleanliness in line with Client requirements, carrying out all daily, weekly and periodic tasks as directed by the Waste Supervisor
-Have a full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials and approved chemicals used within the premises and to attend all necessary training to be able to use them
-To comply with the requirements of Health & Safety, other relevant legislation and Client policies
-Use products carefully and look after all equipment
-Report any maintenance issues to the Waste Services Supervisor
-Understand and observe MITIE and Client site rules at all times
-To wear personal protective equipment (PPE) issued is worn
-Ensure correct PPE is worn and kept clean and tidy
-Ensure all relevant safety signs (such as Wet Floor Warning Signs) are used correctly and appropriately at all times
-To observe all Company and Client statutory fire and safety regulations and to promote good safety habits and methods of work
-To deal with any complaints that fall within the job holder's duties and report these immediately to the Waste Services Supervisor
-Perform miscellaneous cleaning duties as apparent or as instructed by the Waste Services Supervisor
-Report in when arriving and leaving site using Workplace Plus
-To undertake any other related duties which are within the job holder's capability, according to the needs of the business and as directed by the Waste Services Supervisor
