Are you ready to ignite a passion for science and support hands-on learning in further education environment? As a Science Technician, you will work at the heart of our science department, helping to deliver exciting practical lessons using state-of-the-art facilities.
What is the role?
You will be an essential part of the science department as you support biology, chemistry, physics, and other practical lessons from GCSE level all the way through to higher education. The role is filled with a host of varied jobs and responsibilities which require specialist knowledge to ensure practicals run smoothly. (Training will be provided where necessary.)
Your day-to-day
The preparation, delivery, and reuse of practical apparatus and reagents for everything from microscopes to magnesium.
Keeping track of stocks of chemicals and apparatus using a modernised digital system.
Assisting teachers, students, and your fellow technicians in their understanding of health and safety in the labs.
Maintaining apparatus and stocks in labs to allow their efficient and safe running.
Speaking with staff and students to design engaging and insightful practicals.
Helping students in their learning through demonstrations and classroom practical assistance.
What we are looking for
GCSEs (A*- C/9-4) or equivalent in Maths, English, and Science.
An enthusiasm for science with a strong technical ability and an interest in hands-on practical work.
Familiarity with health and safety procedures, particularly in lab environments.
A team player with a love of learning and helping others discover the wonders of science.
