Who we are
Join a team that encourages people to consider bats, their conservation and their welfare, one enquiry at a time.
Bats are amazing animals and an important part of our natural environment. There are 18 species of bat in the UK, all of which are protected by law because their numbers have decreased so dramatically. The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) operates a National Bat Helpline to provide over 13,000 enquirers a year with easily accessible and accurate information, including advice and support on the legal responsibilities of those with a bat roost and support getting injured bats to the care they need. Myths and misunderstandings about bats, together with intolerance and fear, have always been obstacles to bat conservation. The Helpline’s role in advising and supporting people who come into contact with bats is an important part of BCT’s work towards our vision of a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.
Who we are looking for
We are recruiting for several Seasonal Bat Advisors to join our small and busy team of Advisors who act as ambassadors for bats and their conservation, by being the first point of contact that members of public have with BCT. As Seasonal Bat Advisors, you will play a vital role in advising and inspiring the public and other key stakeholders about bats in the UK, by sharing your passion for conservation. The role not only allows you to develop your communication skills, but you will also gain technical expertise while working with some of the most experienced bat volunteers in the UK.
Ideal for bat enthusiasts and early career conservationists alike, BCT provides two weeks of intensive training on all things bat, so if you are willing to learn and challenge yourself, we would love to hear from you. Seasonal Bat Advisors are well organised, self-motivated and thrive in a bustling, fast paced team. If you think you can be a passionate and enthusiastic ambassador for bats and BCT, please apply!
