The Emergency Department at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is an exciting and expanding department in one of the busiest and highest-performing non-elective trusts in the country. We are looking for enthusiastic, forward thinking team players to help build on the current excellent reputation and trust ethos.
We have several posts for experienced Emergency Medicine doctors (ST4+ equivalent) who wish to pursue a fellowship in an interest of their choosing. Fellowship postholders are awarded up to 20% of non-clinical fellowship time whilst the remaining time is spent providing Emergency Medicine care on the full rota (which is self-rostered) with the higher trainees and other senior clinical fellows.

The main service commitments of Senior Clinical Fellows will be, under the supervision of the Consultants, to supervise the FY2s, as well doing 'hands on' work alongside the other middle grades. The department has initiated new patterns of working to achieve the current targets and integral within these are the ‘lead middle grade' ‘resus lead’ and ‘rapid assessment team’ which are roles undertaken by the middle grade doctors within the department. The middle grade would also be expected to run the daily review clinic.
The Consultants are very committed to teaching and post-graduate training and will ensure appropriate opportunities for professional development. The appointee will be expected to already have or to have obtained during the course of the appointment certificates in ATLS and ALS. Most of the Consultants are Instructors on these courses.
Previous post holders have been awarded a job split of up to 70:30 Emergency Medicine : Healthcare Management. The split will be agreed with the educational supervisor depending on projects or postgraduate courses that the post holder wishes to undertake, and regularly reviewed against progress demonstrated towards their PDP.

Quality Improvement Fellowship
The Fellow in Quality Improvement will play a key role in enhancing patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and service efficiency within the emergency department. This position is ideal for a clinician with an interest in healthcare quality improvement, clinical governance, and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and support quality improvement (QI) projects within the department, ensuring alignment with NHS quality standards, RCEM quality standards and patient safety initiatives.
· Develop, implement, and review clinical guidelines and protocols in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
· Analyse healthcare data to identify trends and areas for improvement, promoting best practices in patient care.
· Engage with key stakeholders, including consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
· Provide training and mentorship in quality improvement methodologies, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
· Contribute to audits, research, and service evaluations to inform policy and practice within the Trust.

Research Fellowship
This exciting role offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative clinical research that enhances patient care, safety, and the effectiveness of emergency services. The successful candidate will participate in, design, lead, and deliver research projects within the Emergency Department, contributing to both multicentre trials and portfolio studies conducted within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and support research projects within the Emergency Department, contributing to advancing clinical practice and patient care.
· Develop research proposals, design studies, and manage research activities in collaboration with senior clinicians and researchers.
· Collect, analyse, and interpret healthcare data, ensuring robust methodologies to address clinical questions and inform evidence-based decision-making.
· Engage with key stakeholders, including consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals, to integrate research findings into clinical practice.
· Contribute to the publication of research findings and present research at national and international conferences.
· Provide mentorship and guidance to clinical teams, fostering a culture of academic inquiry and excellence within the department.

High Intensity User Fellowship
We are looking for an EM clinician with a passion for service development and quality improvement to join our team in managing High Intensity Users (HIU) in our Trust. The post holder will assist the clinical lead for HIU in setting up a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) service, engaging with the North West London Integrated Care System (NWL ICS) and our partners in Mental Health, LAS, General Practice and Social Work. The service runs weekly MDTs, along with a social prescriber, to create individual care plans for patients identified as High Intensity Users and provide them with the holistic care they need. The successful applicant will also attend monthly meetings at a Pan-London and NWL level for HIU.
This post will therefore combine several important managerial aspects of working as a senior clinician in the NHS, including chairing meetings and liaising with multiple agencies to create and agree care plans. As such this post will provide good experience for those close to CCT/specialist registration, or more junior registrars with ambitions towards further senior NHS managerial positions in the future.
