Summary

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are two of the UK's most popular heritage railways, located in the heart of picturesque Snowdonia. We operate trains daily from late March to the end of October.

We are looking for a carriage cleaner to work out of our Dinas depot ensuring the excellent presentation of our carriages on the Welsh Highland Railway.

We can offer you:
• £12.71 per hour for applicants aged 21 and over (National Living / Minimum Wage for age applies)
• Seasonal contract from Saturday 28th March 2026 to Friday 30th October 2026
• Part time (approx. 20 hours per week)
• The pro rata equivalent of 28 days paid holiday, inclusive of all bank and public holidays

The successful applicant will be responsible for cleaning carriages both internally and externally. This position is based at Dinas Station, Llanwnda, near Caernarfon, however you may be required to work at other locations on occasion. You must be able to work cleanly and tidily; ideally you will have experience of commercial cleaning, however lots of enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard is all that’s required as full training can be provided.

• Able to deliver excellent levels of cleanliness
• Good communication skills and a cheerful disposition are essential
• Able to work on own initiative or as directed
• Must be able to work alone or as part of a small team
• Must be willing to work outside in all weathers
• Must be punctual and reliable at all times
• The ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage as would knowledge of the railways and their passengers; and the local area.

Candidates should be flexible and able to work shifts any day of the week. Hours may either be early mornings or late afternoons, to suit candidate. This position will require lone working. Candidates may be required to work in locations not easily accessible by public transport therefore access to private transport and a full driving licence is required for this role.
