SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
To respond immediately, on an individual basis or in pairs, to emergency calls to Bromley Carelink customers received via the Control Centre computer system. To assess the situation and take the appropriate action necessary to resolve the emergency in a satisfactory and timely manner. This will involve contacting emergency services as required. Provide/assist a Carelink customer with personal care in the event of care services failing to attend, or, in an emergency, using the appropriate moving and handling aids provided for the customer.
To ensure that the customer�s home is secure on leaving and to contact the next of kin as required.
To visit prospective customers and complete a detailed biography, checking the customer�s ability to use an alarm, the suitability of power and telephone sockets for installation of an alarm unit and that safe access is available to enable Carelink staff to attend.
To undertake an environmental risk assessment for all customers referred to the service.
Treat and store all information which is provided by the customer or care managers as strictly confidential, on and off site.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to empathise with the needs of the elderly, adults with physical disabilities or individuals who are distressed.
Ability to work with the minimum of supervision and as part of a team. Must be adaptable.
Good communication skills with a wide range of professionals/non professionals.
Strong customer focus.
Clear thinking in emergency situations.
Demonstrate appropriate understanding, knowledge and skills in valuing diversity
KNOWLEDGE
Some knowledge of Care in the Community legislation.
EXPERIENCE
An awareness of the demands of working on a shift pattern, including night call-outs, anti-social hours and bank holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS
No specific qualifications are required for this position, but the applicant must be able to write neatly and clearly and be a good communicator.
Willingness to undertake customer focused training or any other training that is necessary to ensure safe working practices.
Required experience:
o Previous moving and handling experience
o Experience working in Adult Social Care or Care sector
o Some knowledge of Care in the Community legislation
Requirements:
o Must be a driver (cars available on site)
o Must have a full UK driving licence (non-negotiable)
o No remote working. This is non-negotiable
