Summary
Plan ahead in anticipating that equipment, instrumentation and consumables needed are available and present in your area to assist in the smooth efficient running of anaesthetic, operating and recovery time. Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained for your area of work including controlled drugs, fluids, equipment, consumables and monitoring and replenishing when required. Ensure that accurate and timely patient records are maintained. To monitor theatre cleanliness within your clinical area and take action to remedy any variance from the specified standard. To exercise responsibility for the cleanliness care maintenance, and use of routine and specialist equipment within the department and any other areas where required, reporting any defects or problems to PODP and Bioengineering Dept. To check, issue and document controlled drugs with Registered Nurse/ODP in accordance to the Trust policies. To give utmost regard for the psychological care of the patient their dignity and confidentiality at all times. To participate in consultation with the Theatre Manager, Sisters and Principal ODP on clinical trials and any audits being undertaken. To undertake day or night duty on a rota basis to suit the service needs of the department. To act as a positive role model working within specialist guidelines and codes of conduct / practice Adhere to all professional departmental and Trust policies and procedures.
