Summary

The Assistant HART Manager (Training) provides leadership and management for the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), ensuring compliance with national training standards and contractual requirements. The role is responsible for designing and delivering a rolling training plan aligned with NARU and NHS England standards, maintaining operational readiness, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Once trained, the post holder will participate in the NILO/Tactical Advisor on-call rota. Key Responsibilities Training & Competency Develop and implement a comprehensive training plan to maintain compliance with NARU and NHS standards. Ensure all HART staff maintain required capabilities and competencies. Monitor training compliance, performance reviews, and maintain accurate training records. Oversee health and safety compliance during training activities, including risk assessments. Leadership & Management Provide visible leadership and professional management to HART Team Leaders and operatives. Support staff with operational, compliance, and HR matters. Promote NHS values, equality, and a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Deputise for the HART & Special Operations Manager when required. Operational Duties Respond operationally as a paramedic when required. Act as Tactical Advisor during major incidents once trained and vetted. Ensure training aligns with SOPs and risk management processes. Work flexible hours to provide leadership coverage for day and night teams. Governance & Quality Collaborate with Assistant HART Manager (Quality) to ensure training documentation is audit-ready. Support incident investigations and embed lessons learned into practice. Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory standards (CQC, EPRR, NHSE). Stakeholder Engagement Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote interoperability and safety. Represent HART in multi-agency forums and contribute to strategic planning.
