Lead Teaching Assistant – Pastoral Support Vacancy at Water Leys Primary School
Lead Teaching Assistant (Grade 7) Point 11, FTE £26,832 - £28,146 per annum (pro rata) 29 hours per week. Term time only to include inset days. Permanent Contract from 13th April 2026
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate person to support pupils within our pastoral hub at Water Leys Primary School. This non classroom-based role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils in overcoming barriers to their learning and who thrives in providing flexible approaches to learning.
The successful candidate will support pupils whose learning is primarily impacted by SEMH needs, ensuring a tailored approach to their curriculum. This will involve developing individualised plans to increase their attendance and engagement. Additionally, the role will require collaboration with colleagues to plan and deliver interventions aimed at promoting positive mental health and resilience.
The ideal candidate will:
• Have significant experience of working with individuals and small groups to encourage participation and engagement in education.
• Be able to engage with pupils to understand their needs and assist them to fully participate in overcoming barriers to learning.
• Have excellent communication skills that allows you to inform, coach and advise others.
• Want to make a difference to the children in our care especially those who are most vulnerable.
• Act calmly and professionally in all situations.
