This Electrical Engineer position supports a military installation by designing, constructing, and managing infrastructure projects, providing consulting services and project coordination. Responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, upgrading, and operating utility systems. This involves regular facility inspections and assessments to identify deficiencies and develop maintenance/restoration plans. The role requires project planning, budgeting, and execution, including developing cost estimates, securing funding through Air Force processes, and managing both in-house and contracted labor. Projects will encompass sustainment, modernization, repair, and construction of real property facilities. Proficiency in software such as SMS, CADD, and project tracking programs is essential. All work must adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualification requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (or Level 6 BTEC/HND/NVQ/City and Guilds) in a related discipline (i.e. Electrical Engineering) and one-year specialized experience as per the required key skills.
OR
Level 5 (i.e. BTEC/HND/NVQ/City and Guilds) in related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of specialized experience as per the required key skills.

Key Skills required for this role
1. Professional knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and practices and familiarity with architectural and other engineering disciplines.
2. Knowledge of a broad range of engineering and construction standards, methods, practices, and techniques, materials, and equipment to determine compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations; of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures as it relates to facilities engineering; knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, and/or technical orders; of environmental principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and current legislative issues; of work classifications and the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds.
3. Knowledge of automated data processing concepts, systems capabilities, and economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions; and knowledge of program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control and budget systems and management.
4. Knowledge of aesthetic and functional design techniques and skill in preparing project documentation, to include preliminary drawings, sketches, and construction drawings; and technique / skill in drafting sufficient to convey design concepts and ideas and formulate working drawings.
5. Ability to plan, conduct and record site/facilities surveys and inspection; to analyze, interpret, and apply results, rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions.
6. Ability to plan and organize work and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and architects; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain good working relationships.

Conditions of employment for this role
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on a Fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 0730-1530) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policies.
5. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
6. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
7. The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. A valid UK driver's license (Category B) is required.
8. You may act as project liaison with the Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies as required.
9. You may be required to serve on A&E selection boards.
10. You must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. You will have up to 24 months to meet the applicable mandatory experience, education, and training requirements.
11. You must obtain and maintain the appropriate enhanced security clearance.
12. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.

NOTE: You will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
This position is only available to UK Nationals. Applicants must hold UK citizenship and have lived in the UK for at least 8 years out of the last 10 years for this position.
