Summary

We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment. As an organisation we strive to reflect the communities we serve and continue to develop diversity throughout our workforce. We welcome applications from all backgrounds regardless of race, sexual orientation, or religion.

Our Partnership and Strategic Overview (PSO) team help communities become more resilient and adapt to climate change. We lead delivery of the Flood Risk Management Plan in partnership with other Risk Management Authorities, using flood risk and coastal change evidence to plan and commission flood defence, resilience, and adaptation schemes. We provide data and information to communities and customers, influence sustainable growth, and regulate activities that may increase flood risk or environmental harm.

As a PSO Officer you will work across the following areas, flexing in line with team and organisational priorities:

Data, Mapping, Modelling and Information: Evidence underpins all our work. You will help lead the production of new flood risk data and support national programmes to ensure data is well managed, accurate, and publicly available.
Development Planning and Regulation: Supporting the Government’s growth agenda, you will contribute to statutory development planning by providing timely responses to planning applications in flood risk areas. You will also support the determination of Flood Risk Activity Permits by providing local advice and guidance to the National Permitting Service.

In this varied role, you will build strong knowledge of our catchments and local issues enable you to develop towards influencing how flood and coastal risks are managed. You’ll receive coaching and mentoring working with and learning from experienced flood and coastal risk practitioners.

The team

You will join the Witham Partnerships and Strategic Overview team in our Lincoln office. This is one of three PSO teams that form part of our Flood and Coastal Risk Management department. Our team is friendly, inclusive and passionate working together to reduce flood risk where we can and inform communities how they can become more resilient in a changing climate. Working closely with many other teams including Asset Performance, Sustainable Places, National Permitting Service.

creating a better place for people and wildlife. You will be flexible in your approach and have

- Are able to communicate well with others and work well in teams.
