Summary
• To provide responsible and high quality patient care maintaining standards in accordance of agreed policies.
• To provide skilled anaesthetic assistance as a member of the team in the operating department and any other area of the Trust as required.
• To maintain standards in accordance with agreed policies, to achieve and maintain a quality service.
• The Post holder will be expected to work a shift pattern incorporating days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays as required.
· Promote and set high standards of patient centered care and maintain the delivery of quality care within the trust policies, protocols and guidelines.
· Communicating and working with the multidisciplinary team to improve quality of care, and informed clinical decisions. Promote innovation and share any new ideas to improve patient care.
· To provide assistance to anaesthetists and surgeons in the form of all aspects of clinical work. This includes any anaesthetic assistance that may be required at the Hillingdon Site (Obstetric Department, CT Scanner Room, MRI Scanner, Interventional Radiology, A&E Resus, Internal Transfers and any other areas)
· To work directly with surgeons and anaesthetists in preparation and delivery of all medical/surgical procedures undertaken in the anaesthetic rooms/theatres.
· To be responsible for the preparation of a safe environment to receive/treat patients within anaesthetic rooms/theatres.
• To adhere to theatre policies in relation to safe receiving/checking procedures of patients within theatres, ensuring all appropriate records are accurately maintained.

· Plan ahead in anticipating that equipment, instrumentation and consumables needed are available and present in your area to assist in the smooth efficient running of anaesthetic, operating and recovery time.
· Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained for your area of work including controlled drugs, fluids, equipment, consumables and monitoring and replenishing when required.
· Ensure that accurate and timely patient records are maintained.
· To monitor theatre cleanliness within your clinical area and take action to remedy any variance from the specified standard.
· To exercise responsibility for the cleanliness care maintenance, and use of routine and specialist equipment within the department and any other areas where required, reporting any defects or problems to PODP and Bioengineering Dept.
· To check, issue and document controlled drugs with Registered Nurse/ODP in accordance to the Trust policies.
· To give utmost regard for the psychological care of the patient their dignity and confidentiality at all times.
· To participate in consultation with the Theatre Manager, Sisters and Principal ODP on clinical trials and any audits being undertaken.
· To undertake day or night duty on a rota basis to suit the service needs of the department.
· To act as a positive role model working within specialist guidelines and codes of conduct / practice
· Adhere to all professional departmental and Trust policies and procedures.
