Salary: UH8 £46,049pa to £58,255pa by annual increments on achieving designed skills and experience.
Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Main duties and responsibilities

You will provide high-quality academic input in relation to Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing, to ensure students acquire the knowledge and skills required to become an independent and/or supplementary prescriber.

The role includes responding to policy developments, leading on all aspects of the delivery at a module level including responding to PSRB requirements, leading on the curricula, theoretical and practical teaching as well as assessment and feedback to students. You will also be expected to engage in scholarly activity to remain academically and professionally credible. This may include writing for publication and presentation at relevant conferences. In addition, you will build on the close working relationships that the School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences has established with NHS and Community Trusts, Acute NHS Hospital Trusts, Ambulance Services, Prison Services, GP practices, ICBs,, through active participation in meetings and work groups as appropriate and contribute to Programme Development Teams, Examination Boards and Monitoring and Review Panels as appropriate.

The Senior Lecturer will play an important role as part of a team incorporating the Head of Department or Professional Lead, Programme lead, module leaders, the professional, administrative and technical staff (if applicable), the Dean of School and the Associate Deans of School.

Skills and experience required
You will have experience in supporting student learning in either a practice or classroom setting and of facilitating student learning in a university setting (e.g. student nurses, students on allied health professional programmes, Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing students). You will also be expected to have experience of good/innovative pedagogic practice and extensive experience of high-quality evidence of coaching or mentoring and teaching other professionals.

You will have a theoretical knowledge of Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing, along with a thorough understanding of PRSB standards. In addition, expertise in clinical assessment, clinical reasoning, diagnostic skills and an active prescriber. The role requires the ability to work to deadlines, and to set and monitor own standards, and collaborate with a range of other disciplines. In addition to this you will be in proficient in English Language, verbal and written and have excellent interpersonal skills.

You will be expected to be able to work flexibly and responsively with regards to team and workload requirements and show a commitment to engage in scholarly activity, for personal and professional development.

Qualifications required
You will hold a Level 7 qualification (such as a Masters) in a relevant subject area, or equivalent qualification. You should also have live registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, or General Medical Council and be an independent prescriber with current experience. A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this is essential.
