Summary
Queenswood School is an ambitious, multi-cultural independent school with many outstanding features. During our last visit by OFSTED we were delighted to receive another ‘good’ judgement with outstanding ‘personal development’ of our children. We are seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic graduate teacher, to join our team of committed and talented staff. The successful candidate will work as a class teacher in key stage 2, specialising in Maths and Science with other subjects, depending on their strengths. Small classes are taught in mixed age groups, Lower Juniors (Years 3 and 4) and Upper Juniors (Years 5 and 6), so the ability to work intensively with a small number of children of varying abilities is needed. School hours are 8.50-3.45 but we expect staff to arrive for 8am and stay behind for a weekly staff meeting and take an after-school care session once a week until 5pm. Some events take place on an evening, Carol Service, Speech Day, Parents Evening – not often, but attendance is required.
Applications from newly qualified teachers are warmly welcomed with support from our exceptional ECT mentor: the Leeds Schools Teaching Hub acts as our supervisory ‘appropriate body’ and the ECT provision would be based on UCL development materials with all statutory non-teaching time allowed.
We are looking for someone who:
• is a talented teacher with high expectations of all pupils
• is dedicated, energetic and proactive, with the vision and motivation to inspire others
• is committed to helping us nurture excellence and drive our school forward
• will support partnerships with pupils, staff, parents and the community
• is creative in their approach to children's learning
We can offer you:
• a very happy inclusive school which serves a community of diverse cultures and languages
• enthusiastic, co-operative; very respectful and happy children
• a friendly, supportive team of staff
• professional development opportunities
• a salary closely in line with M1 payscale and enrolment in the Teachers Pension scheme.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils and expects all staff to share this commitment. The appointment will be conditional upon checks or police records via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Completed forms must be returned directly to the Headteacher at the school by 24 February and interviews will take place on 2 and 3 March 2026.
This job is subject to an enhanced DBS check. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
