Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Painter/Decorator to join the Direct Works team within Housing Property Services. The role involves delivering high-quality painting and decorating works across responsive, planned, void, and capital repair programmes, ensuring excellent standards of workmanship and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out painting and decorating works to a high standard in domestic properties.
Plan and organise workloads effectively to meet service targets and customer appointments.
Respond to urgent and emergency repairs as required.
Accurately record works completed, materials used, and follow-on repairs using mobile devices (PDA).
Maintain tools, materials, stock, and company vehicle in line with council procedures.
Identify and report additional repair needs and support the ordering of materials.
Work safely in line with health & safety legislation, risk assessments, and council policies.
Provide guidance and support to apprentices or trainees when required.
Deliver excellent customer service and act as an ambassador for the council.
Essential Requirements
NVQ Level 3 in Painting & Decorating (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience delivering high-quality painting works in domestic properties.
Awareness of construction safety practices, including asbestos awareness and working at heights.
Ability to use IT systems and mobile devices for job recording and materials ordering.
Good communication skills with residents and colleagues.
Willingness to work flexibly to meet service needs.
Clean UK driving licence.
Basic DBS clearance.
