Crynodeb
The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety throughout Holly House. The role is essential in ensuring that the home remains a clean, pleasant, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
The Cleaner will organise and carry out daily cleaning schedules, adhere to infection control and health & safety requirements, and use cleaning materials and equipment responsibly at all times, acting in the best interests of the Home and its residents.
Main Responsibilities
To clean and maintain all areas of Holly House, including:
Residents’ bedrooms and en-suite facilities
Bathrooms, shower rooms, and toilets
Corridors, stairwells, and communal areas
Ensuring all areas are hygienic, tidy, and odour-free at all times.
To carry out routine and scheduled cleaning tasks, including:
Dusting high- and low-level surfaces
Cleaning skirting boards, doors, cupboards, and touch points
Vacuuming, mopping, and floor care
To undertake planned deep cleaning of bedrooms and communal areas as directed by management, ensuring all work is documented where required.
To follow all Health & Safety, Infection Control, and COSHH regulations, including:
Safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals
Correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Manual handling procedures
To use cleaning equipment and machinery safely and competently, reporting any faults or defects immediately.
To ensure corridors and access routes remain clear at all times and that cleaning activities do not create trip hazards.
To report maintenance issues, damage, or repair needs to management promptly.
To maintain adequate stocks of cleaning materials and consumables (e.g. soap, paper products) and assist management with ordering when required.
To ensure waste is disposed of correctly and bins are returned to designated areas after collection.
To work respectfully around residents, supporting their dignity, preferences, and choices at all times.
General Duties
To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
To behave professionally at all times and work effectively as part of the care home team.
To attend mandatory training, supervision, and staff meetings as required.
To participate in fire drills and understand emergency procedures.
To maintain confidentiality at all times regarding residents, staff, and the service.
To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management, such as periodic cleaning of wheelchairs or equipment.

The Cleaner has a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of residents, colleagues, visitors, and contractors within Holly House.
