Summary
Neway International are seeking a Driver/Courier (Operational & Support Staff) to join our client based with Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Location: Remote (covering the Vale of Glamorgan area)
Hours: 37 per week
Rate:
PAYE: £12.21 per hour
Limited/Umbrella: £15.77 per hour
Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00
About the Client
Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Building Cleaning & Security service sits within the wider Environment & Housing directorate. The team provides essential operational support across council-owned properties, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable movement of goods, documentation, and materials. Due to long‑term sickness within the team, additional capacity is required to maintain continuity of service.
The Role
The Driver/Courier will deliver a courier‑based service across the Vale of Glamorgan, transporting packages, mail, equipment, and documentation between council sites, schools, libraries, and partner locations. The role also supports recycling collections, basic labouring duties, and mobile service cover within the Building Cleaning & Security group.
This is a hands‑on, active role requiring reliability, professionalism, and a strong customer‑focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
Transport packages, mail, and parcels between council-owned properties, including schools.
Provide a paper recycling collection service for the Waste Management and Cleansing Department.
Deliver and collect packed crates and packages between Vale of Glamorgan libraries.
Transport cleaning materials and equipment to council properties.
Deliver legal documentation between Civic Offices and the Authority’s solicitors.
Assist with transporting monies and cheques between designated council sites.
Support other functions within the Building Cleaning & Security group, including mobile service cover, office moves, and basic labouring duties.
Uphold the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy in all duties.
Candidate Requirements
Experience in a courier, delivery, or driving‑based role.
Strong reliability and time‑management skills.
Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
Good communication and customer‑service skills.
Physically able to handle crates, packages, and equipment safely.
Commitment to safe working practices and equal opportunities.
