Hours: 36 per week
Rate:

PAYE: £28.41 per hour

Limited/Umbrella: £38.69 per hour

About the Client
The London Borough of Bexley’s Children’s Social Care & Safeguarding service is committed to delivering high‑quality, child‑centred practice across MASH, Referral & Assessment, Family Protection, and Child Protection teams. The service is experiencing increased caseload pressures due to long‑term sickness and upcoming staff departures, and is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to provide essential capacity and stability.

The Role
The Senior Practitioner will support frontline safeguarding work across MASH, R&A, CP, and Family Protection pathways. You will manage complex cases, provide professional oversight, and contribute to timely, effective decision‑making that ensures the safety and wellbeing of children and families.

This role requires a confident, experienced practitioner with strong assessment skills, the ability to work at pace, and a solid understanding of statutory safeguarding responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
Undertake high‑quality assessments within MASH, R&A, CP, and Family Protection services.

Manage a complex caseload, ensuring timely progression and robust safeguarding practice.

Provide professional guidance and support to colleagues where required.

Contribute to multi‑agency decision‑making and information‑sharing.

Prepare clear, evidence‑based reports and statements for meetings, conferences, and court proceedings.

Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure coordinated support for children and families.

Maintain accurate, timely case records in line with statutory and organisational requirements.

Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures.

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England.

Significant experience across MASH, Referral & Assessment, Child Protection, or Family Protection.

Strong analytical, assessment, and decision‑making skills.

Ability to manage complex and high‑risk cases confidently.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑agency environment.
