Summary
Job overview It is a exciting time to join The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. PAHT have been awarded the funding to support the vision for the West Essex Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) in providing timely access to diagnostics for all of the West Essex population, tackling health inequalities and achieving the 28-day Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) for all potential cancer and non-cancer patients. Clinical patient pathways will be joined up between primary, community and secondary care by redesigning existing healthcare provision to include elective and non-elective models of care and extension of opening hours. The Radiology department at the Princess Alexandra Hospital is actively seeking to recruit a Consultant Radiologist with a sub-specialty interest in Chest Imaging. This position will consist of 10 PAs per week, with an additional PA for on-call commitments. You will support a busy and diverse Imaging service, with a scope to further develop the appointee’s area of special interest. Main duties of the job This is a position required to support the Radiology service at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) and have an interest in Chest Imaging, pursuing opportunities to expand the Chest service. You will be based primarily at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, but may be asked to work at any of the other 2 sites that make up the Trust, St. Margaret’s in Epping and Herts & Essex in Bishops Stortford. If successful, you will take part in multi-disciplinary meetings and participate in teaching Radiology registrars. The Advisory Appointment Committee for this vacancy is provisionally scheduled for 29th April 2026. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Provide expert clinical care in Radiology, including outpatient, inpatient, community and on-call services. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions in hospital and community settings. Contribute to the development and implementation of integrated clinical guidelines and protocols. Supervise and support resident medical staff. Engage in clinical audit, quality improvement, and research activities. Participate in clinical governance and risk management. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation. Collaborate with colleagues across departments and external partners. Teaching and training • Provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, resident doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. • Participate in postgraduate education and training programmes. Research and innovation Support or lead research within the department. Contribute to publications and presentations at professional conferences. Management and leadership Participate in departmental meetings and service planning. Contribute to workforce planning and service redesign initiatives. Take on leadership roles as appropriate within the department or Trust.
