Summary

Adult Social Care – Mental Health
Hours: 21.6 hours per week (3 days)

We are seeking an experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join the AMHP Hub within Adult Social Care. The role involves undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and providing expert professional leadership across mental health services.

The post holder will coordinate and complete assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983, working with individuals with complex mental health needs to ensure appropriate, lawful, and person-centred outcomes. You will work closely with health partners, emergency services, and internal teams, including attending court where required.

You will provide specialist advice, consultation, supervision, and mentoring to social work colleagues and AMHP trainees, supporting high-quality practice, service improvement, and compliance with statutory duties. The role also contributes to service planning, safeguarding activity, partnership working, and continuous improvement across Adult Social Care Mental Health Services.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with AMHP warrant

Registered with Social Work England

Strong knowledge of Mental Health Act, Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding legislation

Experience working with complex mental health cases

Ability to work rota patterns including out-of-hours arrangements

Enhanced DBS clearance
