Here at Saga, we are seeking an Assistant Management Accountant. Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager - who will be responsible for assisting with general ledger accounting, business partnering and the production and delivery of internal reporting for Saga Group Limited.

This role is suited to a part qualified finance professional who is likely to have a background in financial and management accounting and control. The individual will need to have strong analytical skills and be able to work to tight deadlines.

We work in a hybrid way at Saga both at home and in the office. This role requires you to be working from our Folkestone office a minimum of twice a week, allowing us to collaborate and share success as a business.

Main Responsibilities

• Raising intercompany invoices

• Intercompany accounts reconciliation at month-end, ensuring this is complete within the required timescale

• Preparation of Balance sheet reconciliations

• Processing of timesheets for review by the Assistant Finance Manager

• Uploading Click Travel invoices

• Processing credit card transactions

• Sub-let accounting (including preparation of the annual service charge reconciliation)

• Maintenance of the Fixed asset register ensuring compliance with Group accounting policies

• Cost centre management to include; Accruals and Prepayment journals, Monthly forecasting and modelling for the current financial year, full-year budget, longer term planning and providing variance analysis and commentary to present to internal stakeholders.

• Supplier spend analysis

• Adhoc projects and other data analysis as required


The Ideal Candidate

As our new Assistant Management Accountant you will be Part Qualified (either AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA), with to have a background in financial and management accounting and control,

Other skills and experience include:

  • Able to demonstrate strong GL accounting capability and a good understanding of financial reporting.
  • Very high level of proficiency in the use of Excel and general ledger systems with previous experience of IBM TM1, Office Connect and Workday (advantageous)
  • Able to work as part of a team and capable of delivering to tight deadlines
  • An eye for detail and the ability to understand technically complex accounting issues
