Summary
General Packing & Agricultural Operative
**Previous experience in agricultural, horticultural, or production work is advantageous. Own transport required due to location of work (no public transport).**
• Location: Ormskirk (Halsall area)
• Contract Type: Temporary ongoing position (permanent role can be offered after 12 weeks, based on performance and attendance within the initial 12-week period)

Overview:
This role is for an agricultural business who have been established for 35-years, operating all year round. We are recruiting two motivated and reliable individuals to join the team in Ormskirk (Halsall). The roles commence and are predominantly working in the packhouse.
These roles combine packhouse operations with general farm and greenhouse work, supporting the full cycle of produce handling - from planting to picking and packing. This is an excellent opportunity for long-term employment following the initial 12-week temporary period.
Working pattern:
• Monday to Thursday, 07:30am – 4:00pm
• Friday 07:30am – circa 2:00pm on Friday (typically)
• Optional overtime on a Saturday in busier periods
• Overtime paid for any hours above 39 hours (worked)
Pay rates:
• £13.00 per hour, up to 39 (worked) hours
• £16.00 per hour, above 39 (worked) hours
Breaks / lunch times:
• 2 x 15-minute breaks (1 morning, 1 afternoon)
• 30 minutes unpaid lunch per day
Additional facilities:
• Breakout room (microwave, kettle, heater, hot & cold water) and designated smoking shelter on-site
• Suitable parking on-site
PPE provided:
• Steel toe-cap wellies, gloves, coveralls, waterproofs, earmuffs / defenders (airpods allowed on the line, wired earphones allowed providing not exposed)
Key responsibilities:
• Packing, sorting, and picking agricultural produce ready for distribution.
• Working within the greenhouse to plant seedlings and harvest mature crops.
• Assisting with general harvesting and maintaining product quality standards.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with hygiene and quality procedures.
• Maintaining tidy, efficient work areas within both the packhouse and greenhouse.
• Carrying out occasional yard and general farm assistance duties during low-production periods (infrequent).
Candidate requirements:
• Physically fit and capable of manual, hands-on tasks.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a small team.
• Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to work across varied farm and packhouse tasks.
