Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governors of this successful, voluntary aided school are looking to appoint an inspirational and dedicated Teaching Assistant to be part of our support staff team at St James CE Primary School, Birch in Rusholme.

This post will be based in the Reception class, therefore experience of working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is desirable.

About the Candidate

The role includes:

• Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age


• Numeracy/literacy skills (at a level equivalent to NQF Level 2)


• Completion of the Teaching Assistant Induction Programme, or an equivalent qualification


• Ability to relate well to children and adults


• Ability to work as part of a team


• An understanding of the role of the Teaching Assistant and other professionals working in the classroom


• Ability to use relevant technology


• Understanding of the national curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies


• Basic understanding of child development and learning


• Willingness to undertake minor first aid training as appropriate

As a Teaching Assistant you will be working with the class teachers, SENDCO and other members of staff to provide curriculum support and interventions for our children.
