Job Summary
Medacs Healthcare is looking for a dedicated and experienced Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join our team at Chelmsford prison. This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality nursing care in a secure environment, supporting patients with both primary and acute healthcare needs.
About You
You are a compassionate and confident nurse who is driven to deliver exceptional care. You work well independently, communicate effectively, and thrive in multidisciplinary environments. You remain calm under pressure and bring professionalism and empathy to everything you do.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care
- Conduct clinical assessments, administer treatments, and manage discharges or referrals
- Support first reception screenings and emergency responses
- Lead and participate in primary care clinics (e.g. wound care)
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audits
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support junior staff
Requirements
Essential:
- NMC-registered RGN
- Prison clearance
- At least six months' recent UK-based experience
- Clinical examination and venepuncture skills
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- A&E or assessment unit experience
- Previous experience in prison healthcare
- Strong communication and autonomous decision-making skills
