Job title: Learning Mentor Salary: CSET 9 Hours: 19.5 hours per week, term time only Working pattern: to be discussed at interview Contract type: Fixed Term until 31 August 2026 pending a review of staffing arrangements Location: Charfield Primary School About the role We are seeking a committed Learning Mentor to support pupils at Charfield Primary School, as well as students at Tortworth. Working closely with the SENDCo, you will deliver targeted interventions that help children overcome barriers to learning, improve behaviour and emotional regulation, and build confidence and resilience. You’ll work 1:1 and with small groups, contribute to the Assess–Plan–Do–Review cycle, support families through EHAP processes, and help monitor attendance for vulnerable pupils. This is a hands-on role in a busy, supportive environment where you’ll play a key part in helping every child feel safe, included, and ready to learn. About you You will be an empathetic, proactive and resilient practitioner who is committed to helping children thrive. You will bring experience of supporting primary-aged pupils, including those with SEND or SEMH needs, and you will: Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues Communicate clearly and compassionately, with strong written and verbal skills Lead effective 1:1 and small‑group interventions that support behaviour and emotional regulation Use data, observation and professional judgement to shape and evaluate interventions Stay organised, reliable and confident using ICT systems, contributing well to a busy team About us Charfield Primary is a small and friendly school set in beautiful grounds in the centre of Charfield Village.
