Summary
Neway International are seeking a Domestic Assistant to join our client Barnet Council within their Social Care (Children in Care) service.
Location: Woodside Avenue Unit, 27 Woodside Avenue, London, N12 8AT
Hours: 28 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Start Date: 09 February 2026
About the Client
This service operates a six‑bedded children’s home in North Finchley, supporting young people who may present challenging behaviours. The home provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, and the team plays a key role in maintaining high standards of care and daily living.
The Role
The Domestic Assistant will act as a cook/housekeeper, preparing daily lunches and evening meals for up to 10 residents and staff. The role also includes full responsibility for maintaining the kitchen environment and ensuring compliance with food hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook lunch and evening meals for residents and staff
Manage all kitchen areas, ensuring cleanliness and organisation
Complete stock rotation and maintain accurate fridge/freezer temperature records
Produce the weekly food menu for the home
Order weekly food shopping (online or in-store)
Support a safe and structured environment for young people
Candidate Requirements
Experience working in a residential children’s home or school environment (preferred)
Experience supporting young people who may display challenging behaviours
Strong understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety
Ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations
Reliable, organised, and committed to maintaining high standards
