Summary
Fleet Maintenance Mechanic – up to £50k – Monday to Friday Flexi Shifts – Retford
The position of Fleet Maintenance Mechanic operates 8-hour shifts, flexible hours from 6am to 10pm depending on individual preference and operational requirements. To ensure the reliability, safety and legal compliance of the company’s fleet of vehicles, tankers, trailers, mobile plant and associated equipment.
The role of Fleet Maintenance Mechanic is hands-on in nature, while also providing structured compliance support to the Transport Manager under the Operator’s Licence. The post holder will also support and mentor a first‑year apprentice as part of the company’s skills development programme.
Duties include general mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and routine servicing, arranging, and coordinating services, inspections, preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs and liaising with external repairers and specialists where required. Supporting the Transport Manager by scheduling and managing 8-weekly inspections, MOTs and monitoring recurring defects and emerging compliance risks.
You will also maintain safety and inspection equipment ensuring accurate logging and calibration, reporting hazards, defects, or non-compliance promptly.

Time-served or qualified mechanic.
Have experience maintaining HGVs, vans, trailers, and mobile plant.
As well as strong fault-finding and practical repair capability.
Desirable is an HGV driving licence, experience in an Operator Licence environment and previous experience supporting apprentices.
