Location: Retford, Nottinghamshire

Hours of work: Home based with at least 50% site presence, Monday - Friday

Are you an early-career or mid-level Occupational Hygienist looking to build hands-on experience, work on varied sites, and make a real difference to worker health?

We're looking for a motivated Occupational Hygienist to join our Health, Safety & Environment team on an exciting 12-18-month contract. This role is ideal for post-graduates or professionals with 1-2+ years of occupational hygiene experience who want to develop their technical skills, grow their professional standing, and work on meaningful, real-world projects.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate of the following skills/experience:

Essential:

  • Occupational Hygiene degree or diploma and BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence
  • BOHS modules (e.g. M502, M503, M505, M506, M507 - or working towards)
  • Practical field experience carrying out occupational hygiene assessments and writing reports
  • Professional membership with BOHS Faculty of Occupational Hygiene at Licentiate or Specialist Licentiate level (LFOH / LFOH(S)) or higher
  • Knowledge of RPE and face fit testing

Desirable (but not essential):

  • CertOH or active progression towards it
  • Experience with IAQ investigations, LEV assessments or Legionella risk assessments
  • Experience working in multi-site or operational environments

Role information:

  • Planning and carrying out occupational exposure monitoring (dusts, fumes, vapours, gases, metals), including sampling strategies, calibration, and QA
  • Undertaking workplace noise surveys in line with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations and producing clear, practical recommendations
  • Conducting assessments for COSHH, HAVS, vibration, indoor air quality (IAQ), welding fumes, LEV performance, WBVs, thermal comfort, and Legionella (where competent)
  • Analysing monitoring data, interpreting results against WELs/EH40 and relevant standards, and producing professional, client-ready reports
  • Providing pragmatic control solutions (engineering, procedural and PPE-based) to reduce health risks
  • Supporting the design and delivery of proactive health risk management campaigns and training
  • Working closely with the wider HSE team to deliver an integrated approach to occupational health
  • Maintaining equipment, records and quality documentation in line with ISO procedures
