Summary

Senior IT Engineer | Fyfield, Oxfordshire | Full Time (office-based) | £50,000 + business/performance-related bonus

Our client is a well-established IT solutions provider with over 30 years’ experience supporting several hundred sites nationwide. Known for technical excellence, innovation, and strong customer relationships, they are now seeking a Senior IT Engineer with a strong focus on Networking and Firewalls to join their growing Fyfield-based team.

You will play a key role in delivering new projects and installations, maintaining existing infrastructure, and providing both remote and on-site support. This is a hands-on, senior-level position that involves network design, security, troubleshooting, documentation, and mentoring junior engineers.

Please note- You must live within a commutable distance of our client’s Fyfield office and be able to work in an office-based role.

Are you the right person for the job?

• 4–5 years’ experience in a similar senior IT/networking role
• Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to build long-term client relationships
• Cisco routers and switches
• TCP/IP networking, routing, and IT security
• Firewall configuration, management, and reporting (Fortinet)
• Windows Server administration
• Virtualisation (Hyper-V, clustering)
• Active Directory & Azure AD
• Microsoft technologies: Azure, Office 365, Intune
• Windows 10/11 and Apple device support (MDM: Intune, Apple, Meraki)
• Backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring
• Microsoft SQL Server experience (advantageous)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Able to commute to and work from the Fyfield office

What will your role look like?

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure network solutions
• Configure, manage, and support firewalls (Fortinet) and Cisco networking equipment
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and manage capacity planning
• Ensure systems are monitored, backed up, patched, and secure
• Lead and manage network projects and upgrades
• Provide on-site and remote end-user support where required
• Maintain high-quality documentation, diagrams, and reports (WUG, SolarWinds, IT Glue)
• Support and mentor junior engineers and coordinate field engineers
• Work closely with senior management and other teams to deliver projects on time
